Our Story
Teens at the Table started with a simple idea: young people can and should take action against food insecurity in New York City. After volunteering at the Food Bank and seeing firsthand how many families rely on food assistance, I knew more needed to be done.
Now, we’re building a movement. Our team organizes volunteer opportunities, raises awareness, and works with local organizations to fight hunger. Whether you want to pack meals, advocate for change, or spread the word, there’s a place for you here.
Join us in making sure no one in our city goes hungry. Together, we can create real change.

I love Food Bank NYC because it brings our community together and reminds me that even in the toughest times, compassion and resilience shine through. Volunteering there has not only deepened my appreciation for food security but has also taught me that a little can go a long way.
One day while volunteering for Food Bank NYC, I witnessed firsthand the challenges we face. We were preparing food packages at a pantry, and just as we were about to close the day, we discovered we had run out of several key items—fresh fruits and vegetables that many families rely on for their nutritional needs. It was a moment of pure frustration; it had been planned so carefully, yet there we were, unable to provide a complete package for some of our most vulnerable clients. I remember feeling a mix of disappointment and urgency, knowing that when people come to Foodbank, they expect not only support but also a sense of hope.
That experience was a turning point for me. It wasn’t just about the missing food; it was about recognizing the immense responsibility we carry as a community resource. The scarcity that day underscored the harsh reality of food insecurity and pushed us all to work even harder to secure more supplies and improve our systems. It was a lesson in humility and determination—realizing that while setbacks are inevitable, they also pave the way for growth and innovation.
I want to keep fighting against this scarcity of food. I want to guarantee that if you step through the doors of that pantry, there is food there for you.
